Updated Makeup Storage, Current Skirt Obsession and The Best Bagel in the World?! | The Weekend Post #3

sunday post

Something slightly new on my blog today, instead of the normal beauty post, I decided to have a little round up of my week featuring some of the things that I have been loving.

The Dirty Bagel @ Spitalfields // This week included a little trip to London, perhaps my favourite place ever. While I was there I took a wonder down to Spitalfield Market where I was bombarded with delicious street foods, certainly not something we tend to get living in the middle of nowhere. I finally managed to narrow it down to the Dirty Bagel stand, and boy am I glad I did. A mix of pulled pork, rocket and melted cheese, this was probably the best thing that i’ve eaten for a while, if not ever.

The Skirt // So I may have a new obsession in my life. From the title you all know already, THAT skirt. As soon as I saw it in Topshop it had to be mine. I love the print and style for summer – so bright and the orange makes my pasty little legs look a lot more tanned than they actually are. So in love. Talking of tanned legs, i’ve recently been trying out a new product from Dove. Their Summer Glow is something that caught my eye in Boots. I’ve tried gradual tanners before but they never really seem to make that much of a difference. Yet this one does. It leaves a gorgeous bronze glow onto the skin, which is easily buildable over a couple of days. Defiantly a new favourite for summer.

Updated Makeup Storage // I’m not going to go into too much detail with this, as i’m planning on writing a separate post pretty soon. But I finally got round to ordering a new set of the Muji 2 Drawer Wide for my makeup storage. I already had 2 sets but felt like everything was just a little too cramped, and with my growing collection, felt it was time to add in a 3rd. I’m happy with how it turned out. Each drawer is dedicated to it’s own category and my makeup is finally organised. Yay!

Let me know what you thought of this post, and if I should do it again!

The MAC ‘One Sweep Wonder’ Eyeshadows

IMG_0727 IMG_0735

(Left – Woodwinked Right – Satin Taupe)

I love myself a good eyeshadow that can be swept all over the lid and you’re pretty much good to go. Shades that even look like you’re wearing two or even three different shadows when really, you’re not. You can apply messily and they still look good. Today i’m bringing you two of my favourites from MAC, possibly the daddy of all eyeshadows.

Woodwinked is probably the colour that a lot of you would be thinking about when reading the title of this post. But it is the perfect shade for all over the lid. When blended, it turns almost orangey in shade, meaning that in the crease, it looks like you’ve applied another eyeshadow, when you really haven’t.

But the one that i’ve been wearing pretty much on an everyday basis recently is another popular mac shadow, Satin Taupe. It can be applied sheerly for a wash of colour or packed on for a more intense look. Either way, matched with a few generous coats of mascara these two shadows look stunning and a great natural alternative for summer.

What’s your favourite one sweep wonder?

New MAC Purchases

Sadly I don’t have a MAC store near me, so from time to time I have a little splurge on their site. This week included one of those splurges, and I picked up a few products which I have been wanting to try for a while.

For as long as I can remember, or at least for as long as i’ve been into makeup, i’ve wanted to start my own MAC palette. I finally gave into the temptation and picked up the 15 shade palette, along with 2 shades to kickstart my collection. Woodwinked is a shade I have lusted over ever since I saw Tanya Burr use it in a tutorial a few years ago. As I have blue eyes, it’s a gorgeous copper/bronzey shade which instantly makes them pop. Such a lovely shade for summer.

Another Tanya inspired purchase was Satin Taupe. Probably one of the most talked about MAC eyeshadow, and I can see why. It’s a beautiful taupe shade with a slight purple undertone. One I know I will be wearing a lot.

Seeing as I have combination skin, I find myself with dry patches, yet a very oily T-zone, something that makes my makeup, especially foundation, separate and not last during the day. So I wanted to give Fix + a try, as I’ve heard it does a good job at setting makeup in place, and even for refreshing the face before or after application. I’ll defiantly keep you updated on this one!

Glow For It | The Bronzer Edit

IMG_0565 Whether you prefer matte, shimmer or a bit of a sheen, I guarantee there’s a bronzer out there that’s perfect for you, and which’ll make you look hot under the summer sun. I’ve thrown together a few of my favourites, mostly drugstore, but with a holy grail mixed in for good measure.

L’oreal Glam Bronze // L’oreal is one of my favourite drugstore brands as it is, but their bronzers are defiantly up there close to the top spot. Their Glam Bronze includes 3 shades from dark bronze to a rosy pink, leaving the skin looking radiant and with that ‘glow from within’ look. What’s more, the compact includes a mirror and a little brush, making this one great for travelling and carrying in your bag!

L’oreal Glam Bronze Matte Bronzer // Yet another L’oreal (can you tell that I like their bronzers?). This time i’ve picked one of my favourite matte powders. The cool tone makes this one ideal for contouring, or alternatively perfect for an all over the face bronze as the shade isn’t too deep.

Gosh // I have used this product to death over the years, to be honest i’m surprised it’s lasted me this long. Again, this bronzer includes a variety of different shades, something that creates the perfect tone when all mixed together. The added shimmer reflects light beautifully, instantly making you look like a golden goddess. Beautiful.

Benefit Hoola // Last but defiantly not least is Hoola by Benfeit. Understandably this is my all time favourite bronzer. This is another matte bronzer but is the perfect cool tone for pale skin like my own. You can tell from the picture that I am soon going to have to make a trip to Boots to pick up another of this beauty. Again, a great one for contouring and for a all over tan.

The Best Drugstore Lipsticks? | Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks Review & Swatches

IMG_0482

IMG_0462I love nothing better than a new lip product launch, especially when it comes from the drugstore. Hence why I had to go straight to Boots when I heard about the new Revlon HD Lipsticks. Claiming to have “Revolutionary wax-free gel technology for true color clarity in one smooth swipe”, I was all for these. I picked up 3 shades out of the total of 20, partially because of the 3 for 2 deal that is currently on in Boots. Although they have a great shade range from nudes to brights, my local Boots only had 6, so I was limited on shades to chose from. Having said that, the ones I picked up are gorgeous, and defiantly colours that will see me nicely into summer.

What I love most about these lipsticks is the fact that they feel so lightweight on the lips, yet still giving you a full opaque colour. Not only that, but they smell and taste great! However, the one drawback being that they don’t last that long, meaning you have to reapply quite a bit throughout the day, though that’s expected when wearing a more moisturising texture, in comparison to a matte. Perhaps why some of you would prefer the nuder shades from the range, as they don’t look as noticeable if they wear off.

For £7.99 these are great, and defiantly a product which I know I am going to get a lot of wear out of. I might even take another cheeky little stop to Boots to pick up a few more shades!

The Weekend Post #1 | 5 Blogs Worth Giving a Read

IMG_0293

What’s better than a nice little read this Easter Weekend, apart from the obvious Netlix whilst stuffing yourself with as many Easter Eggs as you possibly can. If you opt for the first of those two options, then I have 5 fabulous blogs that are defiantly worth a read…

ViviannaDoesMakeup // I love this girl. I’m already obsessed with her Youtube videos, so when i’m up to date with all of her latest uploads, I love nothing more than a good old gander around her site. It’s defiantly the one-stop for any girl’s beauty needs. What’s more, I love her style, defiantly one to check out.

CoutureGirl // This blog popped up on my screen whilst I was browsing through Bloglovin’ one day. Not only are her posts great, but her photos are amazing. Seriously a blog that I find myself lusting over time and time again.

Lipssofacto // Yet another blog that I randomly came across. Meg is a British blogger whose blog has been recognised by the likes of Vouge and InStyle. Another great option if you’re wanting to know anything beauty related.

NouvelleDaily // This is a great blog for anything regarding beauty and style. If you’re looking for inspiration for not only your personal style as well as home interiors, then this one is for you. Her chic and modern style with a hint of retro thrown into the mix instantly catches my eye. Ghostparties is also another great option if you’re look for great interior posts.

CareerGirlDaily // Fitness, Fashion, Food, Beauty and Home. This blog has it all. Lifestyle blogs aren’t something that I tend to go for when it comes to reading blogs, only because Beauty is my passion. However, something about this blog makes me want to keep on reading. Any other great lifestyle blogs? I would love to get into a few more!

March Beauty Favourites

IMG_0270

Yet again, another month has flown by. (Seriously though, it felt like Christmas was last week!) So it’s March Beauty Favourites time, a round up of all my favourite products from the month of March, and boy have I got some crackers for you.

Starting off with my most recent purchase, the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer. Like most things, I’m late on this one. I’ve never tended to wear a shadow primer in the past, probably why I always ended up with creased eyelids and non-existent shadow by the end of the day. So I was really excited to give this cult product a go. I really love it. It blurs out my eyelids, giving them a blank canvas to apply eyeshadow. Not only that, but I find my shadow looks the same hours later, something that is always a plus.

Next up are two products that I have recently reviewed here on my blog, so i’ll leave it short but sweet. The No7 Instant Radiance Cream Highlighter is something i’ve been using religiously this month. It leaves you with a gorgeous sheen to the areas where applied..I just love it. (I talk a little more about it here – https://hautebeauty1.wordpress.com/2015/03/20/the-cream-highlighter-that-beats-them-all/ )

The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge has also been a winner for me. It applies foundation like a dream, a great option if you’re wanting a really flawless looking base. (The review – https://hautebeauty1.wordpress.com/2015/03/25/real-techniques-miracle-complexion-sponge/ )

Now I’m a girl who likes a nude nail, I think it looks clean and chic, as well as going with any outfit you throw on. The Maybelline Super Stay polish in the shade 130 Rose Poudre is the perfect pinky nude. Not only does the colour look stunning, but the formula is so long-lasting, and the addition of the wide brush makes it so easy to apply.

If you’ve had a chance to take a peep at my Kylie Jenner Lip Combo post (here – https://hautebeauty1.wordpress.com/2015/03/21/the-kylie-jenner-lip-combo/ ) then you’ll know that I’ve been a super fan of the  Rimmel Exaggerate Lipliner in the shade Eastend Snob. However, over the last couple of weeks I’ve also been liking pairing it with a slightly lighter lipstick, in the form of Max Factor’s Stardust Pink. The liner is the perfect ‘your lips but better’ base, and the addition of the lipstick over the top looks so pretty and perfect for spring.

And last but not least is a product that I discovered a few months ago, and to be honest i’m surprised I haven’t mentioned before. It’s the Which Stick. This is a spot stick formulated with Which Hazel, targeted at treating spots and blemishes when they first appear. I love this stuff. I do think it makes my breakouts clear up a lot quicker than if I wasn’t using the product at all, and it’s so easy to use meaning it doesn’t take up a whole load of time during your skincare routine.

What are your favourite products this month? I would love to know:)
